CUBS 2010 NIGHT HIKE

Brian Hansford, Cub Scout Leader

Just a quick note to let you know that our Batchworth Cubs did exceptionally well and thought you may like to know some facts about the event:

  • 93 teams took part across the county
  • 800 people participated in the event
  • Started walking at 19:10
  • Walked 7.5 miles (checked from google maps).
  • Walked for five hours visiting all six activity bases
  • The six bases included: Speaking French phrases, dealing with casualties in a road crash, memorising a message, space hopper race, sending and receiving morse code messages, sending and receiving semaphore messages and learning the scout promise in sign language.
  • A very busy night, all done in the dark, during the time they would be fast asleep on a normal day.
  • Finished the course at 00:10.
  • Arrived back at the school at 01:00
